CONSTRUCTION IS THE MIRROR OF THE ECONOMY
Read the statistical data on the volumes of constructions completed and you will understand how the national economy breathes. Each statistical figure on construction shows us the direction of development of our economy.
If the volume of industrial constructions increases, it means that we have a revival of the industry. The volume of agro-industrial constructions demonstrates how important agriculture is. If air, land and railway logistics hubs are built, then we have an export-oriented economy.
Large technological investments are required for the production of construction materials. And the ratio between construction materials produced in the Republic of Moldova and imported ones speaks about the industrial power of our country, the existence or lack of conditions for the production of construction materials. If an economy does not have the capacity to produce its own construction materials, then there are no beneficial production conditions for other categories of goods either. The construction of new factories and the modernization of existing construction materials production units demonstrate the confidence of local investors in the country's economy and the ability of the financial system to finance this type of projects, which are oriented to the long and very long term.
In recent years, multiple construction materials production units have ceased their activity. Although in the past some construction companies even allowed themselves to open their own construction materials factories. But now we have a tendency to close these production lines and outsource processes.
In the period from 2006 to 2016, the construction company Ecosem Grup produced its own concrete at 2 concrete factories, but due to the constant increase in prices for raw materials, electricity and fuels, it became feasible to purchase concrete from large producers, who work daily to optimize costs and supply concrete in constant volumes at affordable prices.
The same happened with the PVC window factory of Ecosem Grup, which operated from 2008 to 2020, when we decided to close the factory, the cost per unit produced increasing enormously. It became more economically convenient to purchase PVC windows and doors from strategic manufacturers, who, due to their large production capacities, reduce their costs.
The production of lightweight cellular blocks (BCU) for our residential buildings within the Ecosem Grup company became expensive starting in 2015, which led to the closure of the production line and the procurement of BCU blocks from abroad.
In 2021, we built the last residential block from the brick produced at S.A. MACON, which subsequently ceased its activity and we were deprived as real estate developers of an emblematic brick manufacturer. Ecosem Grup has been faithfully using the brick produced by the MACON factory, which was founded in 1899 by the boyar E. Purcel, in the construction of its apartments for 16 years.
Many construction companies have closed their own construction material factories in recent years, and established producers have also had to cease their activity or move their production to other countries.
Obviously, Ecosem Grup is a real estate developer loyal to local construction material producers. Sometimes we give priority to more expensive local materials than imported ones, but every time we see more construction materials with import labels on our construction sites, we understand that we are still a consumer economy.
